Zack Whitson seminar

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Got pretty busy through the holidays but am back up and running now.
I, along with three of my friends, went to UFC Fight night on Jan 11th in Fairfax, VA. It was a great event and we had a blast. UFC 109 is this Sat and it has a great card (more on that later).

I also attended a great seminar with Zack Whitson last Sat. Mr Whitson is the founder and senior practitioner of the Counterpoint Tactical System. The Counterpoint Tactical System, or CTS, is a complete weapon-based, integrated martial arts designed for the street with an emphasis tactical counter offense. CTS includes elements of Doce Pares Eskrima, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, Kenpo, Jiu Jitsu, Silat, Kung Fu. Mr. Whitson also owns and operates Rocky Mountain Knives (makes some awesome blades!). We covered a lot of stick fighting, knife fighting, and some gun defense as well. It was held at LA Boxing, and my friend John Bahr put it together/promoted it. It was an enlightening experience, and since I don’t have very much experience training with those weapons, it certainly reminded me how much I don’t know. It’s always good to be reminded that there’s always more to learn out there. It also got the juices flowing so to speak and motivated me to become more well rounded in my training. I look forward to more of this type training in the near future.
